A.C.S.W.
Hello, I am Chamese Dempsey, and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker (Registration No. 116536) working under the supervision of Dr. Kristin Francis, Psy. D (License No. 29156).
I firmly believe that with the right support and a safe, nurturing environment, individuals have the ability to grow, heal, and evolve. My goal is to create a welcoming space that fosters comfort, while motivating clients toward personal growth and achieving their goals. I value collaboration in the therapeutic process, ensuring that goals align with each client’s aspirations.
As a Native American therapist, I bring a deep understanding of ethnic diversity and multiculturalism, having navigated these challenges in my own life. This cultural perspective enables me to recognize how cultural beliefs can shape healing processes and decision-making. I am also aware of the cultural stigmas that may influence one’s approach to mental health and treatment. I also have a background in working with underserved communities and special populations such as the LGBTQ+ community. My clinical experience spans a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, substance use, domestic violence, relationship difficulties, trauma, and more. I utilize a variety of evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), an interpersonal approach, solution-focused, and holistic practices. My approach is tailored to each individual, ensuring that treatment remains aligned with the client’s unique needs, values, and goals.
I hold a Master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University, where I was honored with the CSU Board of Trustees Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence and Overcoming Adversities and was awarded by the NASW Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship for candidates in social work who demonstrated a commitment to working with, or who have a special affinity with, American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic Latino populations. I hold a bachelor’s in social work, where I was a Research Assistant conducting a study on Native Americans with Cancer and health care during COVID within the SDSU school of Social Work.
I am available for in-person or Telehealth sessions Monday through Friday and look forward to being a part of your healing journey. Call today for an appointment to get started!
