Erinn Tozer is co-owner of Live Better Psychotherapy and a licensed counseling psychologist specializing in individual and couples therapy.

As a counseling psychologist, Dr. Tozer has been trained specifically to help people address developmental issues occurring across the lifespan. Counseling psychology is a psychological specialty that is uniquely oriented toward people who are doing reasonably well in their lives, but are experiencing some form of distress. They generally do not have serious or persistent mental illness. Counseling psychology focuses on prevention, development, and adjustment. Treatment may be brief or longer-term and it is often problem-specific, solution-oriented, and goal-directed.

With more than 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist, and as a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (M.S. in Counseling) and the Pennsylvania State University (Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology), she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, prolonged exposure therapy for PTSD and trauma, sexual orientation and gender identity issues.

Dr. Tozer is an interactive, solution-focused therapist drawing from interpersonal and psychodynamic theories. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Dr. Tozer has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of San Diego and Bastyr University. She was also the chairperson of the San Diego Psychological Association’s Ethics and Standards Committee.
