Co-Founder of Live Better Psychotherapy, Dr. Barrett is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a PhD specializing in Organizational Management she is an experienced supervisor and clinician, writer and researcher.
In private practice her work focuses on the treatment of trauma using evidence based interventions with strong neurobiological underpinnings. Her goal is to help people feel better through the integration of their symptoms and experience which can facilitate growth and life transitions.
As a supervisor, Dr. Barrett provided clinical supervision and on the job training to the US Navy NDACS instructors and to pre and post graduate level counselors.
Since 2008 Dr. Barrett has served regularly as part time faculty and in lecturer positions at the University of San Diego and San Diego City College teaching both graduate and undergraduate students in psychology and related fields including work force entry programs and honors students. She also serves as a board member for the San Dego City College AODS Program.
Dr. Barrett is a cross disciplinary expert with degrees in psychology, social work, and leadership studies focusing on organizational management. Her dissertation was awarded the William P Foster award and nominated for an award from an international research organization (ARNOVA).
The diversity of perspectives from across fields informs Dr. Barrett’s teaching, supervision, and clinical work, and along with Dr. Tozer, she used these skills to create the kind of group therapy practice where people can get the care they need and that clinicians want to work.
