Hi, I’m Aitana! I’m an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (16297), and licensed Naturopathic Doctor (1444), but you might simply call me a wellbeing whisperer. As a therapist at Live Better Psychotherapy in San Diego, I am supervised by Dr. Jennifer Piper (PSY 28988) and I help people who long to reach their full potential but feel hindered by the weight of life’s challenges or their own inner obstacles. My passion for counseling stems from my own journey with mental health. Through befriending my inner shadows and learning the tools to heal, I have moved from palpitations to peace, and now I’m here to help you do the same. I understand firsthand how difficult it is to create lasting habits that cultivate genuine wellbeing.

As a mixed-race woman and daughter of a Mexican immigrant, I care deeply about providing culturally competent care to people of diverse backgrounds through an intersectional and trauma-informed lens. Within our sessions, you’ll find a space where your full self is welcomed, and my hope for you is to leave each session feeling more grounded and optimistic.
My academic journey includes a Master of Counseling Psychology and a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Bastyr University, and a bachelor’s degree from Duke University. I believe deeply in the inherent self-healing capacity of the body and mind, and I take a root-cause approach in my counseling sessions. My approach is thus tailored to each person with an emphasis on individualized care.
